Decorated in minimalist style with earthtones, "floating" beds and stainless steel bathroom fixtures, each room in this 15 story, 250 unit property is a unique respite for the weary traveler.

Opened in late 1998, this newly renovated boutique hotel offers a range of accommodation with whimsical touches. The bathrooms feature one-piece stainless steel counters and sinks, the beds have canopies of dark walnut that appear to teeter precariously above. The bedside tables are white enamel with cloth and steel tube lamps, and the drapes are floor-to-ceiling sheers with an olive/walnut colored top to coordinate with the canopy of the bed. Mosses, taupes, golds and whites are the prominent colors.

Large windows (that actually open), complimentary morning coffee in the lobby, 32-inch color cable television, individual air conditioning, Gilchrest and Soames bath amenities, nightly turndown service, and a warm, caring staff round out the appealing atmosphere of this well-located jewel.

The hotel towers above Fishs Eddie, an oddly-named store that sells dishes and crockery, much of which is "seconds," most of which is very inexpensive, all of which is fun. Within a few blocks' walk are Central Park, the Planetarium, several gourmet groceries, delis and bakeries, including world-famous Zabar's where you might catch a celebrity or two selecting their caviar. A bit further, but still within reasonable walking distance, is the Metropolitan Opera House and Columbus Circle.

On The Ave is located between two subway stations; there are several buses that service Broadway.
