The city of Colorado
Springs has grown up against the rugged peaks of the Rocky Mountains,
in the evening shadow of Pike's Peak. It was from the height of
this famous Fourteener that Katherine Lee Bates looked out over
the world and saw the hundreds of miles of America that would
move her to write the words to her famous song, America The Beautiful.
Today, it boasts numerous museums, historic landmarks, and
natural beauty. It is known as "Silicon Mountain" for
the thriving technological industries that call it home.
