Ahhhh, the romance of St. Valentine's day, the universal day of love's expression. Hearts and cupids, chocolate and ...lingerie. Here are ten romantic spots in which to enjoy this special time.
If Stephen King is your idea of a romantic writer, try The Stanley in Estes Park, Colorado. The Shining was filmed here. (I doubt that Shelley Duval found Jack Nicholson too romantic after awhile).
You want a coastal retreat? Go to Paradise Point in San Diego, California, a romantic beachfront resort, or the Spindrift Inn at Monterey, California's, Cannery Row. The rooms surround you with romantic ambiance; crackling fires, featherbeds, and the Pacific just beyond your doors add that certain Valentine's Day je ne sais quois.
If the lights of the big city appeal to you, try a nice weekend at the newly-renovated Fairmont atop Nob Hill in San Francisco, or the elegant, stately Millenium Biltmore in downtown Los Angeles, or the charmingly urban Inn at the Market in Seattle.
Chic? You want chic? Here are two flavors of chic: Le Parker Meridien in Palm Springs, where you can rub shoulders with movie stars, or the fun and funky Hotel Monaco in Salt Lake City.

And... if romance just wouldn't be the same without the kids, try The Kid's Kabana at The Arizona Biltmore near Phoenix. If your "kids" are pooches, you can pamper them too at The Inn of the Anasazi in Santa Fe.
There you go. TEN romantic retreats in the Western part of the United States. Go get cozy.
