Eden Roc
Now a Renaissance hotel, the Eden Roc is a Miami Beach landmark designed by renowned architect Morris Lapidus. Opened in 1956, the luxury hotel attracted such luminaries as Elizabeth Taylor, Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Lena Horne, Jerry Lewis, Milton Berle, Ann Margret

Fontainbleau Hilton
This is another Miami Beach landmark, also from the 1950s, and also from Morris Lapidus. Its curved arch and 14 stories were reviled by critics; the New York Times architect critic said that she "got a case of the Fontaine-blues" when reviewing it. Still, it was very popular in its time, and attracted a lot of Hollywood's top tier stars. Now it's a refined hotel with the typical amenities found at any Hilton worldwide, plus a half-acre "grotto-like" pool, direct beach access, sweeping views, mini-bars, cable television and dataports. This is a family-friendly resort; kids will love the new "Octopus Pool."

Golden Sands
Set amidst some of the glitziest hotels and condos in north Miami Beach, this family-friendly budget alternative offers 102 nicely equipped rooms and suites, each with a refrigerator and cable television with free Showtime. It's on the beach and has a great swimming pool with a pool bar, a game room, and laundry facilities. Don't expect Ritz-Carlton service here; don't expect Ritz-Carlton prices, either.

Barely above the SoBe line, at 26th St., this little (just 42 rooms and suites) hotel offers something unique for a building of this type: balconies. All rooms in this renovated hotel have balconies and kitchenettes; guestrooms also have two queen beds, air conditioning, cable television, hair dryers, iron and ironing boards. It's a nice alternative to the pricier hotels in the area, and offers everything most of the deep SoBe hotels of this size provide, with the added benefit of direct beach access.

Formerly The Deauville, this hotel was home to The Beatles in 1964, when they played their second date in the U.S. right in the hotel's ballroom.
