Everywhere you turn you're reminded that you are, indeed, in the magnificent Caribbean. No
matter where you are on the property, you're just a few steps from the beach. And lovely it is.
Whether your idea of watersports is a hand-in-hand stroll along the shore in the moonlight
or SCUBA diving, it's all good at Grand Lido Braco.
We borrowed some snorkel gear to explore on our own from shore, but since the bottom is
so sandy, there's not too much marine life to be seen from there. It's better to sign up for one
of the many snorkel trips offered daily, which will take you out to a reef teeming with
fantastically colored tropical fish. Want more adventure? You'll need to pass a swimming
test to tackle the resort SCUBA course, which will enable you to do make an actual beginner's
dive to get a little more up close and personal with the marine life.
If you are a certified diver, be sure to bring your certification card along, which will enable you to enjoy regular
dives during your stay---it's all included. Also available are Sunfish sailboats, kayaks, water bikes and many other beach toys. By the way, palm trees and umbrellas dot the beaches, both nudie and prudie,
but remember to bring lots of sunscreen, so you don't ruin your romantic getaway with a
burn, especially if you're introducing any “new” places on your body to the tropical sun!
Grand Lido Braco's own beautifully manicured 9 hole golf course
awaits, just a few steps from the town square. You can also hop onto a complimentary van to another SuperClubs
course at Breezes, in Runaway Bay. Your greens fees and instruction from the course pro are included at this
18 hole PGA course as well, and you can have lunch at Breezes, use the pool there and even take a circus-training class.
Tennis fans will delight in the three courts at Braco, two of which are lit for night play.
A pro is always on hand to offer help with your backhand, too.
Our idea of working out is anything that includes air conditioning, so we were right at home in
the resort's fitness center. It's perched on a bank overlooking the beach through a complete wall
of glass, which made the stairmasters and lifecycles seem painless. Classes in aerobics and
aquasize dot the activities calendar throughout the week and help balance out those piña
coladas.
NO TIPPING
Your transfers to and from the airport, although included, are provided by an outside
company, thus a gratuity is in order, as it would be if you purchase any spa services outside
of the all inclusive package. Otherwise, all tips for housekeeping, dining, bars, etc., are
strictly off limits. Staff can actually be fired for accepting tips, although, as we have visited
SuperClubs over the years and have become acquainted with various staff members, we have
brought them small gifts on occasion which they are free to accept.
WE DO LIDO AGAIN AND AGAIN...
We have T-shirts that read “We do Lido again and again...” and it's true. Both
Grand Lido
Braco and
Grand Lido Negril are our two favorite vacation spots in the Caribbean. Why go
back to one place when there are so many places in the Caribbean to experience? Well, as one
friend we met there, who had the means to travel whenever and wherever he pleased put it,
“I've been to places that might have better food, or better beaches, or better entertainment,
or better service, but I've never been to one place that manages to put it all together into
one package better than Grand Lido...”
